The 2nd Conference on «Ecological Crisis & Economic Impacts: Adaptation, Innovation & Resilience» was successfully held on 30 October 2025, bringing together representatives from the academic, business and public sectors.
The conference provided a comprehensive platform for dialogue on the challenges of the climate crisis and the transition to a sustainable development model, through 29 presentations and 5 thematic panels.
The conference highlighted that the green transition can act as a driver of growth and competitiveness, provided that there are coordinated actions and strategic planning.
The discussions focussed on:
- On the need to strengthen the resilience of economies and societies
- In the development of green and digital skills
- In the promotion of the circular economy and sustainable business models
- In shaping policies for the green transition
Particular emphasis was placed on the role of education, innovation and cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as on the need for a holistic approach to environmental governance.
Thodoris Alexandrou, speaker and representative of The Factory IKE, emphasised that the role of RIS3 Thessaly focuses on strengthening business transformation through the adoption of innovative, digital and sustainable solutions. Businesses are supported in their transition towards green business models, encouraging the use of low-emission and circular economy technologies. At the same time, the connection between research and production is facilitated, promoting synergies that enhance environmental efficiency and business resilience. In this way, Thessaly is strengthened as a model region for green and smart growth.
