The Physical Education Educational Box

The present research proposal concerns the development of an easy tool for Physical Education using smart sensors to assess and promote physical activity in the school environment. Physical Education in school, as the only subject that requires physical activity, faces serious problems in assessment. Unlike other subjects that have tangible assessment methodologies (e.g., written tests and written exams) and specific participation elements, Physical Education teachers rely primarily on subjective observations that cannot be documented. This lack of objective tools undermines the reliability of the subject and creates an unequal assessment system.
While other courses have incorporated digital tools such as learning management systems, interactive assessment platforms, and real-time analytics, Physical Education continues to rely on old methodologies using timers and observation.
The proposed solution will utilize smart GPS and IMU sensors that students will wear during the course. The system will track their activity over time between courses throughout the year. The goal is to create a system that provides objective documentation of physical activity, improve assessment in Physical Education, and promote physical activity through the collective use of technology, thus contributing to addressing youth health problems.
